      What is the SPDAT?

The SPDAT is an evidence-informed approach to assessing an individual’s acuity, which is currently in use in more than 100 communities across the U.S. and Canada, helping to improve intake processes and use existing resources to help serve individuals in gaining access to programs and services which are best aligned to end their homelessness. The assessment tool, across multiple components, prioritizes whom to serve next and why, while concurrently identifying the areas in the person's life where support is most likely necessary in order to maintain housing stability.

Recently updated to Version 4, the SPDAT uses 15 dimensions to determine an acuity score that will help inform professional Permanent Supportive Housing and/or Rapid Re-Housing practitioners about the following:

      • Single adults who will benefit most from Housing First
      • Single adults who will benefit most from Rapid Re-Housing
      • Single adults who are most likely to end their own homelessness with little to no intervention on your part
      • Which areas of the person’s life that can be the initial focus of attention in the case management relationship to improve housing stability
      • How individuals are changing over time as a result of the case management process
Building on the practical foundations of education, training, and work experience, trainees will learn best practices in SPDAT administration for single adults, as well as the significance of assessment and prioritization to service connection and housing stability, supported by Housing-Based Case Management core concepts and techniques.

      24th Annual Statewide Conference
      on Ending Homelessness

      Monday, October 2nd
      through Tuesday, October 3rd

      Black Canyon Conference Center
      9440 N. 25th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021

After a SELL OUT conference last year, we could not be more excited for this year's 24th Annual Statewide Conference on Ending Homelessness, which will be held on Monday, October 2nd, and Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017, at the Black Canyon Conference Center in Phoenix, AZ.

      ANNOUNCING THE 2017 CONFERENCE THEME
This year’s theme, “Take Action: Building Homes, Breaking Down Walls,” is a natural continuation of the theme of the last three years in which the focus was on how to tell the story of our work. This year, we look forward to providing a more solid platform in which to learn how to TAKE ACTION with your stories in meaningful and impactful ways – in your workplace, in the state and federal legislature, and in the hearts and minds of our neighbors.

      ANNOUNCING THE 2017 KEYNOTE SPEAKER
With the merging of these two member-based organizations in mind, the Arizona Housing Coalition is pleased to announce our 2017 primary keynote speaker as Dr. Tiffany Manuel, Vice President of Knowledge, Impact & Strategy at Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., and the lead author of "You Don't Have to Live Here: Why Housing Messages Are Backfiring and 10 Things We Can Do About It." As the Alliance's membership of housing professionals and developers begin to mix and mingle with AZCEH's homeless service professionals, it is our hope that we can all come together to find our collective message and voice in order to more effectively impact the hearts & minds of our elected officials, peers and colleagues, and neighbors alike.

      HOW TO GET INVOLVED: Awards
Each year, we look forward to honoring some of our state's most hardest working at the Awards of Excellence in eight categories celebrating every level from direct-service to business partnership to lifetime achievement.

      National Hunger
      & Homelessness
      Awareness Week

      November 11th - 19th, 2017

In partnership with the National Coalition for the Homeless, AZCEH annually observes National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week the week before Thanksgiving. This is a time for us all to start to think about what we are thankful for, a perfect time to share our compassion with our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness, and work toward a world where no one has to experience Hunger and Homelessness.

      Thursday, December 21st, 2017

Every year on December 21st, the vernal equinox -- the longest night of the year -- we remember our neighbors who have passed away on the streets. The National Coalition for the Homeless, the National Consumer Advisory Board and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council encourage communities to host public events remembering those lost. Please check back for more information, or consider organizing your own Memorial Day event -- download the official organizing manual to see how you can participate.
